Transform Your Life & Live Your Dream
In my 16 years of experience as a Counsellor, I understand the value for clients in communication and personal agency; to speak and be heard, to invite stillness and reflection, to see and be seen. There are times in life when talk therapy with its vast array of tools, techniques and well-researched, empirically validated methods is precisely what soothes, building the foundation for change. If this is one of those times for you, connect with me so we can explore your concerns and I can support you with the transformation process you seek.

Explore How can I Help You
I have worked with many individuals of diverse populations and backgrounds who are seeking to make life better. Most recently, I have become an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider (CCSP). This credential requires 30 hours of additional, specialized study in the area of ADHD. I especially enjoy working with adults who have become recently diagnosed.
Anxiety
Did you know there are over 15 types of anxiety? It is helpful to narrow down which one(s) may be applicable to you or your loved one, so that a specific treatment approach can effectively target the symptoms. It is also useful to highlight that problematic thinking, neurochemistry, trauma and an overactive somatosensory system are just some of the contributors to anxiety. About 20% of the population (Anxiety Canada, 2023) experiences clinically significant anxiety. With treatment however, symptoms can be vastly reduced to regain an empowered sense of control in life.
Stress
Stress is one of the unavoidable byproducts of our existence. It is a healthy and normative response to certain stimuli that can assist us in taking action and gaining momentum. Coping with stress though can commonly feel overwhelming when we are overextended, misaligned, imbalanced or ineffective at selecting and using the right strategy to handle a specific stressor. Imagine that stress is a liquid, pouring into a cup. Awareness and regular maintenance of the stress levels in the cup is key to ensuring it does not overflow. When there are many quiet contributors to that stress cup, it can fill more quickly than we think! Just as there are many ways to fill the stress cup, there are many ways to empty it. We can explore and investigate all these aspects.
Relationship Issues
The dance of relationship – professional, familial, personal or intimate is so very nuanced. The moves can be tricky and hard to remember. Somewhere along the way, we are bound to step on some toes and have ours stepped on too! Our need for connection though is very much serviced by how we are in relation to others. Trust and effective communication are two of the largest pillars for supporting healthy relationships. A rupture or a tear means we have some repair work to do or even some decisions to make about letting go. Recognizing attachment styles, needs, wants, expectations and how to handle conflict can be a good starting point.
Depression
Consistent low mood, helplessness, hopelessness, lack of motivation, changes to appetite and sleep can feel incredibly crippling. It can result in negative changes to all areas of functioning. Depression may feel like a vortex of dark energy that has the power to consume us whole. If you or someone you know is in this difficult place, please reach out for help. If you are having thoughts of self harm or harm to others, please connect with your local emergency room or call the crisis line for 24 hour support at 1-888-494-3888. It is possible to overcome the challenges that depression presents, and I can assist with non-critical care
Spiritual Emergence
What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? What is my purpose? What happens next? Philosophical questions such as these often point like a compass directly to our spiritual core. It is one of the most mysterious and undernourished aspects of identity. Remembering that we are part of a collective whole can be the first step in answering some of these questions. Spirituality is one of my favourite aspects to work with because there is so much incredible discovery, enrichment and growth in it. Let’s explore!
Life Transitions
We are ever-evolving creatures. There are many intersections in life where it may be time to change direction. Whether by choice or not. Adjustment to change is a natural process and one that can be very uncomfortable. I can help you expand your tolerance for this discomfort, so you feel equipped to handle questions, concerns or arising fears. If you are considering a life transition or one has already happened, I am here to help you process it.
Parenting
As a parent of two, I offer experience and personal understanding in this domain. I have also counselled many children and youth, so I can offer balanced perspectives. Parenting is one of the most important, exhausting life tasks that we will face. It is imperative to reflect upon and learn how to offer love, leadership, healthy boundaries and safe structure to our children as they grow and make their way in our ever-changing world. Equipping our youth with proper guidance, self confidence, respect and strength lays a foundation for life. And guess what? Mistakes can be the most poignant teaching tools of all. It certainly takes a village. You are not alone.
Grief and loss
Intense feelings of sadness in response to the loss of a loved one, after a serious illness or major life change can be devastating. Fractured pieces of ourselves can feel irreparable. With compassion and sensitivity, I offer help with gentle processing and holding space for all aspects of this challenging time. Acceptance cannot ever be rushed, only worked towards one step at a time.
First Nations Support
“We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love…and then we return home.” ~ Australian Aboriginal proverb.
I am a white settler of Scottish and Irish ancestry who was born and raised on the traditional territory of the Turrbal and Yuggera People. My birth city was traditionally known as Meeanjin or the place of the blue water lillies. Today, it is commonly referred to as Brisbane, Australia.
Respectfully, I wish to acknowledge that the land upon which I now live, work and play falls within the unceded territory of the E’iksan, Komoks and Puntledge First Nations.
I have worked closely with local and distant indigenous groups and partnered with the First Nations Health Authority to offer counselling support that is curious, humble, understanding and supportive. It is my belief that the dynamic and unique ways of various indigenous people must be observed and honoured, learned about and held with respect. The footprints of dominant cultures have disturbed much and left many intergenerational wounds. It is my hope to offer collaborative care to all my relations in the interest of promoting healing and unity.
If you identify as First Nations in BC, our sessions together are likely to be fully covered by the FNHA. Please get in touch with me for assistance.
